I can safely say my childhood was infinitely better because Uncle Phil was in it. From my first introduction to camping, the endless hours playing board and card games (I still think of Phil and Angela every time I play Ticket to Ride!!), trips away by the seaside and body boarding, playing in the garden with Jess, the exceptional dinners: they were all made special because of Phil. I will always remember his kindness and cracking sense of humour (and how graciously he took defeat playing said board games, the mole game springs to mind!). You will be missed Phil.

I knew Phil and Angela from my time at BT in Exeter and as others have said his dry sense of humour was second to none but he also had a heart of gold and would help out anyone. A true gentleman and although we had lost touch in recent years, I have no doubt that if I had dropped him an email, it would have been like we spoke yesterday. It's hard to believe that Phil is no longer with us...he has been a part of our lives for over 40 years. We had a shared love of football and horse racing and would often commiserate over how useless our football teams were. He had a lovely sense of humour and our family has great memories of the many times we visited you in Devon as well as other shared experiences such as the world cup in Paris in 1998 and our road trip in New Zealand. I will miss our WhatsApp messages about Southampton and our dodgy horses 🐎

Phil was a very special guy, warm, witty, welcoming and a wonderful brother-in-law. When we lived in Reading, we loved our visits to Devon with lazy days on the beach, BBQs, swimming and walks with the dogs. Here in Oklahoma, we have many wonderful memories especially of our road trip that took in the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Monument Valley, Bruce Canyon to name a few of the wonderful places and experiences we shared. Phil, a wonderful soul taken far too soon. We were so lucky to have shared so many happy memories to cherish over the years. You were mine & Jo’s second parents, Mum and Dad definitely have the best of friends.
